President Jimmie Dotson is pleased to announce that he has named Southern California President Janet Williams  to fill the unexpired term Region Six Vice President Patrick Melvin.

President Dotson Introduced Vice President Williams to the Board on a March 13th leadership conference call, where the Board confirmed her appointment.  Dotson praised Williams for her dedication and commitment to NOBLE.

"Vice President Williams is a tremendous asset to the organization and has long served as a prominent voice on the west coast," said Executive Director Jessie Lee.

Melvin announced his intention to resign at the Region Six Business Meeting and the members present overwhelmingly supported the recommendation of Williams to the President.

In October 2006, Melvin was appointed Chief of Police of the newly authorized Maricopa, AZ Police Department.  "Building a police department from the ground up is an enormous task and it was readily apparent that I would not be able to give the vice presidency the attention the position deserves," said Melvin.  Melvin retired from the Phoenix Police Department as a Commander, and he was detailed to the NHTSA/NOBLE Officer Leadership Program in Washington, DC.  He went on to participate in the NOBLE Chief's Mentoring Program.
