“Within days of each other, the nation has lost two great civil rights leaders, Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks and Dr. Dorothy Height, laments NOBLE National President Ernest Green. The NOBLE family, which represents nearly 3,500 law enforcement CEOs and command level officials throughout the country, expresses our sincere sympathy during this time of bereavement to the families of Dr. Hooks and Dr. Height.”

Dr. Hooks died on April 15th at the age of 85 followed by Dr. Height on April 20th who died at the age of 98. “Their voices have been silenced but their work will live on; they both lived a rich life filled with love for their fellow man;” stated NOBLE President Ernest Green.

“Sadly we have lost two courageous civil rights pioneers, expressed NOBLE National Civil Rights Committee Chairperson Brenda Goss Andrews. We are so grateful for the contributions they both have made to the civil rights movement. The legacies of Dr. Hooks and Dr. Height will leave an indelible footprint on the history of this country. Their charge to NOBLE and to all Americans is to continue to be the voice for those who seem voiceless, to stand tall for those whose legs that have grown weary and to show courage and conviction for that which is right.”
