professional as Chief of Public Safety.
The Chief of Public Safety has the
principal responsibility for protecting the safety and security of
Bucknell students, faculty, staff and visitors, as well as the
physical campus, in support of the university’s educational mission. To
this end, (s)he leads and supervises a staff of armed police officers
(certified under Pennsylvania Act 120); parking enforcement
and communications officers, and office support personnel.
The
Chief of Public Safety works closely with key external stakeholders in the law
enforcement and emergency management outside the department, including
university personnel and local, state, county and federal
agencies.
(S)he fosters a sense of community involvement and
interest throughout the department, with an emphasis on positive and proactive
interactions with all constituencies served. Bucknell is
located in Lewisburg which is ranked among the nation’s “most
livable” small towns, on the basis of key resources such as healthcare, safety,
and economic base.
