Safety Communication Manager

The Safety Communications Manager is primarily responsible for establishing and executing security and emergency response communication protocols. S/he drafts and sends correspondence on behalf of the Director and Assistant Director, develops marketing and training materials, and maintains emergency response and safety resources posted on the Security website. S/he assists in coordinating, developing, and exercising of business continuity plans and teams, to ensure recovery capabilities are actionable and effective. In the event of an emergency, the Safety Communications Manager serves as a key member of the emergency response team by gathering and coordinating the dissemination of information throughout the Pace community and to the public. S/he also assists the Assistant Director with preparing reports and presentations for University leadership, and may represent the Emergency Management function on various committees and project teams.


  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, English or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in public relations, communications or a related field required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format via a variety of platforms, including mobile technology, is required.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technology is required.
  • Familiarity with emergency communication technologies is a plus.
  • Generally 9:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday, with additional hours as required.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent will be on-call for emergency response and will be required to report to campus outside of regular business hours.
