The City of Champaign Police Department is seeking a diverse group of men and women who are committed to serving the community to apply for a career as a Police Officer.  Previous experience is not required.  Excellent opportunities await you to undertake a variety of police duties, to specialize, to advance and to grow.

Applications to test for the position of Police Officer will be accepted February 6, 2012 – March 2, 2012.  To apply, you must be 21 years old as of June 25, 2012, a high school graduate or equivalent, and have no felony convictions. The testing process includes an orientation session, entry-level written examination and oral interview.  A practice session is offered to help you prepare for the written test.  

Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list, which will be used to hire new Police Officers until June 2013.

The starting annual salary for a Police Officer is $51,876 plus benefits.  The salary increases after the successful completion of a 15-month probationary period to $56,479.
