The
Florida Department of Financial Services is seeking to fill the position of
Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This is a senior level management position with
high visibility. This person will lead the effort to fight fraud in Florida.
This Deputy will supervise the Director of the Medicaid and Public Assistance
Fraud Strike Force, and will be responsible for directing all program
activities of the Divisions of Insurance Fraud, Public Assistance Fraud, and
the State Fire Marshal. This position
serves as senior level leader to managers, supervisors and staff in those
Divisions. In addition, the Deputy must
be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with staff,
colleagues, and elected professionals at all levels of government who are
connected to the law enforcement community.
Duties include
planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the operations of the
Divisions of Insurance Fraud, Public Assistance Fraud, and State Fire Marshal
while ensuring alignment of department goals to the overall organizational
strategic direction. Duties also include
responsibility for developing commitment to broad organizational objectives
including productivity, quality of work, and the development and safety of
staff. When requested, the incumbent
assists other agencies in Law Enforcement activities resulting from natural
disasters and civil disturbances. The position has access to confidential and
sensitive law enforcement intelligence, including Department of Homeland
Security intelligence, and databases such as the National Crime Information
System, The Florida Crime Information System, and the InSite database, and
intelligence bulletins restricted to sworn personnel.
Selected applicant
must demonstrate the capacity to uphold high standards of personal and
professional integrity and must model core ideology and integrate it into daily
activities of the Divisions of State Fire Marshal, Insurance Fraud, and Public
Assistance Fraud. Candidates for Deputy
Chief Financial Officer must have demonstrated technical skills and high level
management experience in a law enforcement environment. The Deputy Chief Financial Officer must have
excellent communication and presentation skills and the capacity to work effectively
with stakeholders, customers, and with all branches of government.
The
ideal candidate would have at a minimum either 10 years of prosecutorial
experience or 10 years of law enforcement experience. Applicants must possess a high degree of
executive management capabilities and experience and must demonstrate the
ability to perform at this level. In
addition, preference will be given to those applicants with a law degree and
extensive prosecution experience involving white collar crime.
Salary: Commensurate
with education and experience.
