The Town of Edmonston is a diverse residential community of 1,488 residents, located 2.5 miles from Washington, DC. The Chief of Police reports directly to the Mayor and is a key member of the Town’s management team. The Department has a strong reputation for effectiveness, community policing and operates with a current staff of Police Chief, Captain, Corporal, Three (3) Police Officers and a Police Clerk. Work involves organizing and directing the activities of the Patrol and Administrative Services. A portion of the Chief’s time will be patrolling the neighborhoods to supplement regular patrol.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of senior management experience in a municipal government or public agency involving responsibility for the planning, organization, implementation, and supervision of police service delivery programs and operations. The selected candidate must possess a State of Maryland Driver’s License and possess or be able to obtain a Police Officer certification issued by the State of Maryland Police Training Commission (blue card). It is preferred that the Police Chief live within a 25-mile radius of Edmonston. MD, and is able to pass a job-related background investigation.
