A national search is underway to identify
highly qualified candidates to lead the Seattle Police Department. This is an
extraordinary opportunity to lead one of the nation’s most progressive police
departments as the City embarks on a new era of constitutional and effective policing,
reform, and civilian oversight. With the accountability structures defined and
in place, the department emerges from a “Consent Decree” and moves to a period

Seattle seeks a reform-minded Chief
of Police who will build on the hard work that has already taken place and lead
the Department through the two-year sustainment period and beyond.
The new Chief
of Police will assume responsibility for a department with more than 2,100 employees

Reporting to and advising the
Mayor, the Chief of Police will be accountable for performance outcomes determined
through the community process that is being conducted concurrently with this
search.
The position requires certification, or the ability to obtain certification,

The
salary for this at-will position is up to $270,000 and is augmented by an
