Illinois Central College (ICC) seeks candidates for the position
of Campus Police Chief. The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police is
retained to coordinate the recruitment and selection of the Chief of Police
position. Based in East Peoria, Illinois, ICC is a
state community college with 1,200 full- and part-time employees and an
enrollment of 12,000 students. Students range from high school students
enrolled in dual credit programs and recent high school graduates to adults and
working professionals who seek a different career. Some students may plan to
earn an associate’s degree or occupational certificate from ICC while others
may be improving current skills or simply take courses for personal enrichment.
In addition to traditional, daytime classes, courses are also offered at night,
on weekends, during semester breaks and in the summer. The College consists of
four campuses, including the 400-acre East Peoria Campus; a Downtown Peoria
Campus with two buildings on Adams Street; the North Campus situated on 64
acres on North University in Peoria; as well as ICC South located in Pekin. The
East Peoria Campus is also home to student residences.
The Campus Police Chief provides administrative
leadership and direction for the ICC Campus Safety and Security Department with
an annual budget of $1.5 million and a staff of 7 sworn Campus Police Officers
and 37 Campus Safety & Security staff.
The Campus Police Chief reports to and is appointed by the Executive Vice President – Administration and
Finance with the approval of the President and the Board of Trustees.
ICC seeks an experienced law enforcement professional
with skills in planning, supervision, community policing, and staff development
who is committed to community and customer service, with outstanding leadership
and administrative skills. The College faculty and staff pride themselves in

The candidate must possess the
ability to develop a good working relationship with other area law enforcement
agencies and have a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible law
enforcement experience, including 5 years of supervisory and/or management
experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Administration, or
equivalent combination of experience and advanced police leadership training
programs such as FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute, or
Northwestern Center for Public Safety School of Staff and Command is highly
desirable.
The anticipated hiring range is $58,573
