Do you have passion for NOBLE? Can you devote quality time to NOBLE? Do you have the commitment to help set the course for NOBLE's future? If so, then we encourage you to seek election for one of the few challenging seats on the NOBLE executive board. We must warn you that setting the strategic focus for this great organization is as challenging as that of any fortune 500 company. Your commitment to the organization will be challenged in that the positions offer few rewards and much sacrifice.
Generally, your duties on the executive board are as follows:
1. To ensure that NOBLE operates within the law and adheres to our Constitution & Bylaws;
2. To exercise due care in oversight of financial matters and reports; and
3. To be loyal to the organization and to attend and actively participate in all board meetings at your own expense.
Executive Board service is demanding, therefore we need board members who are committed and competent. To an outsider board service seems glamorous but the commitment, duties and responsibilities require a considerable amount of time. We suggest that those who cannot commit both the financial and temporal resources necessary to be successful not apply.
Executive Board members have three critical responsibilities:
1. To set the mission and direction of the organization;
2. To ensure leadership and resources; and
3. To monitor and improve performance
Clearly, some of us will not have the time or financial resources to serve the organization at this level and there are other ways to serve the organization, but for our executive board we need the best of the best. I ask that if you are not ready for this type of leadership and commitment that you scour our organization and recommend competent professionals who can volunteer their talents.
A list of the positions available via the elections process are as follows:
- National Second Vice President: Aid and assist the National President. Serve in the capacity of the President in the absence of the President and First Vice President and also oversees the National Standing Committees.
- Treasurer: Keep accurate financial records, reports the financial status to the membership and pays all bills of the organization.
- Financial Secretary: Maintain full and accurate records of all monies received by the organization and deposited to the organizations' accounts.
- Recording Secretary: Shall record, maintain and distribute the minutes of all meetings. Have available at all meetings copies of the last two years' minutes, the Constitution and Bylaws and a current membership roster of the organization.
- Parliamentarian: Must have knowledge of parliamentary procedures and an understanding of the Constitution and Bylaws of the organization. Consult in matters dealing with parliamentary procedures.
- Sergeant At Arms: Shall enforce order at meetings, conferences and conventions of the organization.
- Federal Assistant to the President: Elected during the Federal Caucus
- Associate Members' Representative: Elected during the Associate Members' Caucus
In closing only you can make an honest self-assessment and in doing so answer the questions of:
- Can I attend the four executive board meetings?
- Can I be counted on to come prepared and to actively participate in discussions?
- Am I willing to raise funds for the organization?
- Can I represent the organization and lead in a manner that will help propel us over the precipice to greatness?
Please contact us at: nominations@noblenatl.net or 703-269-3789 ext. 4027 should you have any questions. April 10, 2010 is the deadline to submit your nomination to your regional vice president.
