In July of 2009 at the Annual Awards Dinner at the 33rd NOBLE Training Conference, one of our very own was awarded with the 'Presidential Award' from Past National President Joseph McMillan. I failed to share this info with those who could not attend the 2009 NOBLE conference in Norfolk, VA.
I would like to take this opportunity to recognize Associate member Sergeant Darrell Nichols for his service to the community and NOBLE. His display of leadership and commitment were so outstanding that Past President McMillan chose him among all NOBLE members to receive the National Presidential Award. In a telephone interview I asked Past President McMillan if he could share why he chose Sergeant Nichols for such a distinguished award and he shared the following:
"Broadly it was for his leadership in support of our juvenile violence abatement initiatives. He increased our organizational efforts in training youth as well as police officers on the benefits of "The Law and You" program. Further, he expanded our engagement with like minded organizations to deliver the program to their constituents and increased the amount of certified instructors to be capable in delivering this invaluable program. Historically, the award has been given by the President to acknowledge the extraordinary work of members that have enhanced NOBLE's goals and delivery of service."
Sergeant Darrell Nichols is one of many Associate members who represent the talent among the Associate membership. We salute him for a job well done.
